RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOLS AWARD
What is RRSA?
RRSA stands for Rights Respecting School Award. This is an award that schools all around the country can work to get to show that the school respects all children’s rights. The award is given by UNICEF.
UNICEF has agreed a list of rights called the Convention of the Rights of a Child which has 42 rights (articles) in it.
Lots has already happened to help the children and adults learn about these. In school we have done assemblies, lessons, created class posters, held meetings and put up displays to teach everybody about these rights. We also held a competition to redesign the RRSA logo to suit our school!
This work is important because it helps pupils to understand the rights of children all around the world and become more caring. It helps us to understand the world around us better.
